John Lennon Paintings
The Beatles were a subject I had wanted to paint for quite some time and when some larger than average canvas arrived at the studio I decided to tackle a John Lennon painting. There was a lot of preparation in the actual drawing of this celebrity painting to get the likeness but then it was time to set loose with some very big brushes!
I was a shade too young to really know the Beatles music but having an older brother and sister, I heard more of their music than I otherwise might have. The Shaved Fish album cove intrigued me as a kid and the day when John Lennon was murdered is still a vivid memory.
Like any other painting of a celibrity or iconic figure, I always like it to be high impact. This canvas was large at 3 feet x 3 feet and with the face filling the square canvas, it relly confronts you when viewing it.
