When I recently decided to paint another painting celebrating celebrity culture in the middle of my Klimt influenced phase, I just knew it had to be Boy George of Culture Club. George gets a lot of bad press at times but I think the planet is ultimately a better place with George on it.
The artwork is also painted using some of the odeaology of Tarot, the artwork of which, I have become quite interested in recently. The origins of Tarot has little to do with the Romanies and a great deal to do with the Italian Royal Family of a few hundred years ago.
The Swords represent conflict and there is a “stabbed in the back” theme suggested here. George, has one sword to his fore and this is of course, his Ace which denotes ultimate victory.
The painting makes use of gold coloured metallic effect inks in addition to acrylic paint,
