Blondie and Debbie Harry paintings were canvases I cut my teeth on just before I began to paint full time. Initially, I concentrated on celebrities whom I was definitely a fan of rather than just what seemed to be in demand at the time.
Debbie Harry art is all over the internet but that never stoped me creating my own Blondie paintings. This style, which was much in demand I felt always needed some personalisation. Too many artists were running images through pphotoshop and not bringing anything of there own to the design, palette or composition. I also prided myself in the execution of these paintings. Many I saw produced by others didn’t cut it as far as I was concerned and I was always flattered when peopel thought that the Joe Hendry canvases were prints because of the way the paint had been applied – and it was all hand applied.
This style became known as “pop art”, wrongly it has to be said but if you search google now for “Debbie Harry pop art paintings” it is mainly artwork in this style which will appear.
I still love the graphic nature of these large scale canvases and still produce some to this day as an antidote to other paintings I am working on and of course, creating a Debbie Harry artwork is always a great reason to stay late at the studio.
