Robert Burns (Rabbie Burns) is held dear to the hearts of so many people worldwide. I am lucky enough to live less than an hours drive from Robert Burns’ cottage and school memories of reciting “Tam ‘O Shanter” are still vivid in my mind.
Robert Burns was “some man” as the Scots would say, the Bards poetry lives on long after his lifetime as is knowledge of the man, his love of women and drinking (which may or may not be accurate).
Following the “Answer Is” kiltie painting and because I had also had requests to paint a homage to Robert Burns, I decided on this Robert Burns Kilt painting. This was a bit of a cheeky homage to the Scots poet and a play on the partially exposed “buns” (hence the small r and the capital BUNS). The tartan on the kilt is of course the Burns tartan. Reaction has been everything from “love it” to “RobertBurns would spin in his grave”!
The original painting was a development from the Answer Is artwwork and I am pleased that this modern Tribute To Robert Burns is although slightly tongue in cheek, certainly not meant to be in any way disrespectful.
As far as the painting goes, I am very happy with the way this painting turned out and it has now been made available as a Special Edition Limited art print of only 95.
