Kilt paintings like this are great fun to create. “What does a Scotsman wear under his kilt?” Initially painted in 2007, this artwork was a fun piece but I also wanted him to be painted well. I have since developed this artwork into a series. A huge thank you to Robbie from Perthshire, the “original kiltie” who allowed me to paint him.
The response to this kilt art (and to the other kilt paintings)took me somewhat by surprise. This canvas along with several other Kilt paintings appeared in the press (please see the Articles section) and in 2007 , The Answer IS was the first Joe Hendry Limited Edition Print. The print was launched at the City Inn in Glasgow at a Joint event with Beatles photographer Tom Murray and painter John Damari.
