I painted a trial version of this canvas, in a different colour pallette, which I liked very much and then decided to create a larger scale version in a deeper pallete.
Much of the male figurative artwork to this point had been much tighter and quite line based. This canvas was a departure in that the paintign was created mainly with larger scale brushes and a mix of thick underpainting and acrylic paint reduced to the consistency of watercolour.
This was one of the main canvases sold at the Braewell Galleries solos exhibition in 2009.
