MF Doom artwork
This was a commissioned painting of Daniel Dumile, aka MF (Metal Face or Metal Fingers, no one seems to know) Doom, musician and enigma.
When I am painting a piece of iconic artwork, it helps if I admire the subject of the painting. To date, I have never been asked to paint anyone I dislike, which has been helpful! When i was asked to paint MF Doom, I had to plead ignorance, but thi ssays more about my knowledge of hip-hop& drum & bass than it does about the subject.
I have to admit that I thoroughly enjoyed painting this canvas. It had an air of menace and I wanted it to be totally striking. There is quite a bit going on but for me, it was all about that eye, staring at you right out of the canvas.
