Woman’s Own is part of a series of original oil paintings featuring famale subjects concerned with both the vulnerability and strength of women.
These paintings were painted on canvas panel, which was a slight departure as I normally work on stretched cotton canvas. I believe that the difference in the surface made subtle differences to the manner in which I was painting.
I wanted this piece to have a contemporary feel and yet have a nod towards something altogether more classical.
