I originally designed the Madonna image in 2004 before I began to paint full time. The feedback took me a bit by surprise. Within a week of it being shown online I was contacted by several art buyers including an art collector from New York who owned several original Warhol Monroe paintings (he lends them to galleries worldwide so that others can view them).
This design really sums up the type of work which I was producing when I was working in Interior design with regard to the balance and use of white space. This type of work still appeals to me today.

Before I knew it this painting was being copied by a printer in Germany and appearing on merchandise, which was quite a shock for a still wet behind the ears artist such as me at the time. A couple of years later and it appeared in the background of a Channel 4 documentary. It was an odd experience seeing my paintings on national television.
