Storm Dancers was the last in a series of semi -abstract paintings produced from the early to mid noughties.
These paintings were really interesting to work on as they were full of movement and were very dynamic. Each original artwork was very unpredictable because of the nature of the manner in which they were painted. There was no way to tell how the “figures” would actually turn out once the ink had finished changing and had dried.
During this period I also used more metallic paint than ever before. Artists, I believe have to be careful in their use of metallic effect paints as, depending on how they are used, they can make a painting look manufactured. I like to use them along with metals sometimes as any mirroring effect really brings the viewer into an artwork but I think that this happens with abstracts anyway more than any other painting subject.
