Abstract Art
Abstract Art -The Missing Abstracts
Abstract art, which I used to produce a few years ago had gone completely missing from this website. As I have been working to rebuild this website after the “technical fault” a couple of months ago, i have rediscovered swathes of images of paintings which I have produced over the years which have never been shown on the website before at all.
I have taken the decision to include these in the new version of this website as I believe it gives amore of the whole picture of where the journey of Joe Hendry the painter has visited.
Abstract art is a term that can be mis-used. I remember when I was being lectured to at college being told that people think it means “taken from” and that it does not mean this. I have found over the years that the term abstract art doesn’t mean a lot more than it does mean! My understanding is that it is artwork with no particular reference point in the real worls. I quite like the term semi-abstract and I think that this is where a lot of my experiments led to, if we are ito categorising the paintings. It is certainly helpful to label them in some way so that peopel can find them. So, there is now an Abstract Art Section on this website, which will grow as I add paintings to it over the next few weeks.
I have not painted anything of this nature fro several years and yet as I revisit these paintings, it makes me want to return to this type of canvas. I like the “unknowingness” of these artworks and the fact that peopel can make their own meanings up from them. I like the sense of anonymity too. In fact, if you own a Joe Hendry original abstract painting from six or more years ago, there is a possibility that it is simply signed “Joe” and not Joe Hendry.
