Debbie Harry’s solo albums betwen the Blondie years are often cited as being unsuccessfull. this is not strictly true as several of the albums contained commercially successful singles and the albums themselves did chart, perhaps not to the same extent as Blondie albums however.
I created this artwork of Debbie Harry in big, bold brush strokes over the top of the initial drawing work. I wanted it to look vey loose and it was part of a series of similarly style paintings which were prepared for my first major solo art exhibition in 2007.
The painting was created in such a way as to take the rough “rock chic” theme of the album a stage further. It is quite a manicured image of Debbie Harry and whilst using it as a base, I wanted to paint something reminiscent of ebbie’s earlier career with Blondie when she had a less polished, but no less stunning and captivating appearance.
