Male Figurative Painting

This male figurative painting took several months to complete as it meandered through various subtle textural changes and experimentation with the way the light and shadow was falling across the figure.

During this time, I was painting other paintings about strength and courage, but represented in ways that may not immediately reveal that is what they are about. This painting is about not giving in and the strength in people as they continue through whatever life may throw at them. The figure’s head is not bowed in surrender, but in a last moment of contemplation before looking up again to move forward through the next phase of life.
