Debbie Harry Art – Pencil Perfectionism

Debbie Harry art has formed a part of my portfolio over the past seven years. Most of my other Blondie and Debbie Harry art has been created in paint on canvas, in both acrylic and oil.

Recently however, I have begun to experiment more with graphite and i have returned to working with pencils. This Debbie Harry piece, shown approx 80% completed is based on the

famous Vulture t shirt shot which i believe was taken by Chris Stein, Debbie’s Blondie band member and one time boyfriend.

It is an outstanding shot and I think really reflects the time. Chris Stein is a reall character: I love his wit and sense of humour which often becomes evident in interviews.

I have been teaching myself some new techniques with regard to graphite and as with recent painting techniques, really trying to develop and move myself forward. A pencil seems such a simple tool and yet the effects which can be achieved with such a basic impliment can be quite incredible. I hope to get near the “incredible” stage at some point in the near future!

So the remainder of this week will include completing this Debbie Harry art and also later this week I am doing a painting demonstration for an art club. I have taken part in one of these before and they are as much fun as they are nerve-wracking!

I am going with a completely open mind. i just hope that whatever I paint proves of interest to the art club members. It will be a landscape which will be painted and I have less than two hours. This will certainly be a bit of a challenge as much of my artworkwork is carried out over a period of weeks or months. there is a very high likelyhood of a hairdryer being employed!
