Debbie Harry drawing on A2 paper in graphite. I have recently returned to drawing, and with graphite and charcoal.
For some time I have wanted to create my own version of the fantastic photograph of Debbie Harry by Chris Stein and this drawing is the result.
Every now and ahain when I am painting landscapes, I like to have a break and change to something completely different and this is the cas with this drawing. It is a completely different experience working in close detail to working with a broad brush on a large canvas. The technique here was to create something near photographic yet still retaining the pencil work and the aspects of a graphite drawing which make them so appealing.
I also like to revisit celebrity artwork every so often and for me, this image is truly iconic and really captures the essence of the time.
