Male Pencil Drawing
Male Pencil Drawing
Male pencil drawing has been part of a recent interest I have had in investigating graphite artwork.
If you compare this male drawing with some recent female pencil work you will notice that I seem to attack the paper with bolder and more aggressive pencil strokes for the male pencil drawing. I don’t know if this is some subconcious Male=rough, female=delicate pattern ingrained in me or not but I quite enjoy the contrast.
There is a temptation to kepp working at the drawing and smooth it out but in this case I tried to resist this urge and leave the artwork slightly rough as I felt that this added to the atmosphere which I wanted to create.
This like some of the other recent pencil drawings is based on previous paintings, this one is based on the Ray Of Light paintings.
The drawing is graphite and charcoal on paper which measures approximately 10 x 10 inches. The drawing is finished with a layer of fixative and is ready to be mounted and framed.
