Kate Bush Art – Babooshka

Kate Bush Art in pencil. At the time of working on this pice, I had been creating new figurative artwork in pencil and wanted to puch myself a bit more. Every week whilst I am working in the studio, there is always at least one point where I listen to Kate Bush and the image of Kate from the Babooshka video sprang into my mind and the idea to create this Kate Bush art was born.

The Babooshka video is possibly Kate Bush at her most commercial. I utterly adore the video (and most of Kate’s work). I love that Kate’s music has matured with her but it is still lovely to look back. She is the most creative of musicians andit was fantastic last year to get my hands on the 50 Words For Snow album when it was released. If you have not heard it, I would highly recommend it. Guesting are Stephen Fry, whose voice is perfectly suited to the title track and Elton John makes an appearance on the best thing hehas done in years! And only Kate could make a song about having sexual relations with a snowman sound completely moving.

With the idea in my head and Kate playing in the background, I set out to create monochrome Kate Bush Art which would be visually arresting and a tribute to one of my favourite artists.

Although created in pencil, this art has more work in it than most paintings which I produce and I feel that it may open doors to other new graphite based artworks for me. It has been a real treat to myself to create this piece and I could get lost in it for a very long time, not quite knowing when to stop and perhaps not quite wanting to stop.

This is the third piece of Kate Bush art which I have produced.

Charcoal and pencil on A2 size paper.

Original Artwork for SOLD.
