Painting Dimensions 90 x90 cm
Medium: Acrylic and Ink
The titile of this artwork may sound cliched but I make no apologies. This painting is inspired by a prayer told to me [...]
Female painting was the first time I used oil for early art such as “Bedroom Eyes” and “Monique”. This gave way to acrylic as I began to get to know the medium more and the concern that because the subject was female, the painting had to be delicate and soft in some way.
Latterly, female subjects have been painted with a broad brush and more energy than earlier works and similarly, to the male figurative art, texture has now been introduced, especially in the ‘Goddess” paintings.
The Goddess paintings tell something of a personal story, elements of which are revealed on the individual image pages but this is a theme which I intend to develop further as my painting progresses.

This is the third painting in the Klimt inspored artwork which I have been working on. Shown at what I imagine is probably 40% completed, this will hopefully be adramatic artwork with subdued but still evident areas of gold effect painting.
This Klimt inspired artwork was initially painted in 2008. I liked the piece and it has been hanging in my home and in my studio. During my phase of exploring Gustav Klimt patterns, i decided that this was the perfect candidate for an update.
Figurative art, Scottish painting artist Joe Hendry paints in his Glasow Studio original art and Limited Edition Prints available
Painting currently being prepared for the Joe Hendry solo art exhibition at Braewell Galleries from 15th April 2010. This painting is forming part of a series of new, mainly female figurative pieces.
Female art with a heavy Gustav Klimt influence. This comes from recent exposure to the work of Klimt which I have always noticed but it has not had a huge impact on me until recently.
Original Acrylic painting on cotton canvas.
Dimensions: 60 x 90 cm
This is the second painting in the Klimt inspired canvases which I am currently working on. This painting is in progress, [...]
The palette was probably a touch more sophisticated than some of my other artwork at the time and I am aso pleased with the method of painting which I felt was relaxed yet confident.
An early oil painting from around 2006. I work mainly in acrylic but I also enjoy painting in oil occasionally. this canvas was a portrait of a girl whom I “met” online. She had the most amazing eyes and I was pleased when she gave me permission to paint her.
This artwork is currently in progress. A new female figurative artwork and forming part of the 2010 “Goddess Art” series which I am working on. This painting differs from other recent paintings in the structure of the brush strokes.
Although this is not a portrait as such, it hopefully captures the essence of her. I did not realise that the character in the painting was “Eve” until near the end, when the serpent was added and the apple reflections in the eyes.
Painting is a huge pleasure for me but this painting for some reason provided pleasure in spades! It is a symbolic painting, the title says it all. See the images of the painting as the artwork progressed below

This artwork shows the beginning of a complete change in direction in my painting. Without going into too much detail here (there is more information in [...]
Another in the new series of Goddess paintings,
This artwork had no preparation and came directly from within. This is another recent artwork which has taken several meanderings through change in form, texture and colour.
Jenalee is another girl I met online and I fell in love with a photograph of her and asked her permission to turn it into an oil painting. I worked on this painting for quite some time before I was happy with it but in the end, there was something about the whole character of the artwork that really appealed to me; and still does. This portrait was painted in oil, which as I only paint in occasionally as my art is much more acrylic based.
Acylic on 3 x 2 ft box canvas. “Wild” is a painting based on my daughter and is a reference to the hair and the manner in which the painting [...]
Medium – Oil
In Shadow is painted in oil, which I now only paint in occasionally. This painting is smaller dimensions than much of my other artwork at approximately 50 x [...]
This oil painting was inspired by the music which I was listening to whilst I painted the canvas. It is also based on the bone structure of a fellow artist who is slightly older than portrayed here but this was about capturing the essence of the woman rather than simply a likeness.
I have been working on this female painting
for several months and despite being able
to “see” it in my head, I couldn’t get the
painting on the canvas to marry what I had
visions of.
