Buying original art? The internet is awash with advice from many different sources.. My own personal opinion is go with your heart! You can read what other people think (including me) forever, but in the end, if you like something then it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks.
There are now a proliferation of online art galleries. It may be worth noting that many of these exist simply as cash-generators. Sideline projects which are self-running, set up by people who know software, rather than people who love art. Many of these sites tell you that you are buying original art online direct from the artist, cussing ou tht emiddleman etc. They will have paragraph after paragraph of “advice”. This is all to help their ranking on Google. They make their money from the artists. The higher they rank, the more visitors they get, the more they can charge the artists.
There are some of these galleries run by people who are genuinely interested in art but the majority are not. Far better to have a look for the artists themselves and approach tem directly. As in the offline, real world, Art Dealers and gallery owners should be working to promote art, giving correct advice and supporting artists. It should not be a parasitic relationship but a mutually beneficial on where, ultimately the art-buyer is able to support galleries and artists, taking home the artwork that they love.
Some other personal opinions of mine which I dont mind sharing. I feel VERY strongly that the colour in a piece of artwork doesn’t have to match the room in which it hangs! Art is art and interior decor is interior decor. Having 16 years interior design experience, I can say that it is refreshing to walk into a room and see a piece of artwork which stands out because it is in contrasting colours, or is so subtle that it finds it’s own quiet space. You can use a frame to help contrasting artwork to harmonise with it’s environment.
I regularly accept commissions and have produced a variety of bespoke artwork over the past few years. Please use the contact page and email or telephone with any ideas or requirements which you may have. I am happy to recreate certain previously painted pieces. Please enquire if there is something shown as sold which you may have an interest in.
Is buying original art by Joe Hendry original an investment? All I can tell you is that my work has steadily climbed in price since I began to paint full time in 2005. However I would encourage anyone to buy art because they love it not because of any future return. I can negotiate to a certain degree but please note that I do not undercut galleries with whom I sell off line. I do have art sales and special offers for subscribers to this web site. You can use your email address to register in the Newsletter box at the side panel of each page.
Buying original art has declined in general during the current economic climate. If you are looking to buy art as investment, then there can be no better time than during the present circumstances.
Prices of Joe Hendry originals (outwith sales) are from 250 GB pounds for smaller paintings up to 2500 GB pounds for large scale oil paintings. Please enquire about the pricing of any artwork which you are interested in.
I can accept payment by PayPal (major credit cards), personal cheque, international money order or bank transfer. You are covered by PayPal guarantees if paying by that method. I regularly accept payments from all over the world without trouble.
Please note that this site is protected by SecurePress anti-hacking service. Any submitted details are safe and secure. Also, I never pass your information on to anyone else.
I understand that buying artwork can be expensive and that some paintings might be financially out of reach at times. To this end, I have started to make Ltd Edition Prints available of some artwork (please just ask or see Art Prints pages). I also offer the facility to pay over two or three months if that helps to make artwork affordable. Please contact me to discuss owning your own Joe Hendry artwork!
In the packaging which I have been using for over 4 years now, I have never had one piece of artwork damaged. This includes sending all over the UK, Europe, Sweden, Holland, Greece,France, Australia, Canada and regularly to the USA. All shipments have tracking and insurance is available for a small additional cost. Paintings are sent ready to hang on box style canvas with no exposed staples or pins. Paintings which are ready for delivery usually reach the USA within 48 hours. UK delivery is also by 2 day service but this can be next day if necessary. If you have any other questions then please use the contact page to get in touch.
Part of the pleasure in painting, has been the response from delighted customers. There has never been a single painting returned sold from this online gallery since it began in 2005. Please see the customer testimonial section and also the comments throughout the website.
Concerns about diferences of colours as displayed on monitors have never materialised and you can always request a more detailed image to be emailed to you or a sample print.
I am happy to accept the return of artwork if you are unhappy with it upon notification at delivery. A full refund will be given, minus post costs.
