Art is a matter of personal taste. I hope that you might find something in the varied style of paintings by Joe Hendry that you might enjoy whether to look at for a few moments or to buy and hang in your home.2010 sees Joe’s 6th professional year. In the past 5 years, having produced a variety of styles from his Glasgow studio, Joe sells original artwork regularly worldwide and has appeared in various publications including Marilyn In Art by Roger Taylor and Diana In Art by Mem Mehmet.More about the artist can be found throughout the website and in the Blog, which is updated regularly with anecdotes and details of the working practice of a professional artist. This website contains a portfolio of previous work in addition to a current work which is updated regularly. Please use the navigation buttons on the left or the detailed area below to browse the original art galleries.
From pop art style to oil paintings, here you can navigate from past paintings right up to current artwork which is for sale. I have included much of my previous portfolio within the galleries, particularly in the Miscellaneous paintings section.
Although I have always painted since I could first hold a brush, it was only in recent years that I began selling my paintings to make a living. It has been quite a journey since I first discovered all the people who love to buy art.
Watching how my styles have developed has intrigued even me as sometimes I don't know where painting will take me next. I have enjoyed painting iconic art such as Madonna and Marilyn Monroe as much as I have landscapes or figurative art whether it be an original oil or acrylic painting.
The work here is varied in content as much as in style. When I first started painting again it was after a time when I painted water colours on holiday, purely as a method of relaxation. What developed was entirely different artwork, which I hope you enjoy browsing.
As always, I am happy to receive e-mail with any queries or comments that you may have.
You may also wish to consider registering for the newsletter which is emailed monthly with information on new paintings and upcoming event. Subscribers to the newsletter also have access to special offers.
Best Regards
Joe Hendry

Paintings which are for sale at the moment can be seen in the appropriate category of the web site or for convenience are listed in the Current Art page. For Artwork in progress please visit the Blog.
The male figurative art has also proved to be varied over the past few years but has hopefully always provided artwork of high impact. These paintings have tended to be large scale until 2009 when some smaller scale male art developed it's own style.
2009 has seen more landscape paintings by Joe Hendry than any other year. These have had a great reception and at the moment, have been mainly based on Scotland. Large scale landscape paintings have recently given way to smaller scale artworks, all of which are available in the landscape gallery section of the website.
The Kiltie paintings have proved to be hugely popular from the first "Answer Is” Limited Edition print to the new, "darker" 2009 kilt artwork
Mainly based around Glasgow at the moment, these Cityscape Paintings have had iconic landmarks at there heart since I began to paint them a few years ago.
There is no reason why Joe Hendry painted legs but it happened and continues to do so. This was an early, recurring theme and now and again a new leg art painting appears in the gallery.
This artist is not in any way ashamed of his "pop art" history. I love celebrity culture and I am a huge fan of good celebrity art. As a Madonna fan, I love to paint the talented lady and this section of the gallery is my homage to Madonna Ciccone
There has continued to be progression in the painting of celebrity artwork in the Joe Hendry portfolio over the years and in this section of the online gallery you will find a host of famous faces.
The Icon of all Icons, Marilyn is huge fun to paint and the more recent work has had a bit of an edge to it. The book "Marilyn In Art" by Roger G Taylor contained a Joe Hendry painting, "To Kiss Marilyn and that piece is exhibited here alongside many other Marilyn Art
An all encompassing title but this is where various paintings which are perhaps more difficult to categorise are stored. This gallery features other artwork from the past four years and beyond.
