ICON ART

Madonna, like Marilyn Monroe is difficult to comment on without trotting out clichés. I believe she has a face for our time and a distinctive look which is captivating and a pleasure to paint. I listen to her music whenever I paint her. Those who are unfamiliar with Madonna’s work would probably be surprised by the depth of some of her album tracks. Madonna art can be found all over the web and I hope that Joe Hendry art brings something different to the canvas.

MADONNA IN ART

I was not painting when the book “Madonna In Art” was published a few years back and I remember thinking how wonderful it would be in such an art book. Mem Mehmet, the author got in touch with me a while back and I am very flattered that three of my paintings will be appearing in his new book “Diana In Art” which is a homage to Princess Diana. This art book was released in 2007. It includes an oil painting, a pop art style painting and a hybrid painting which was created in acrylic and oil.

I am also proud to include Mem Mehmet as a customer and I knew early on that I must be doing something right when, in addition to Mem, I had Madonna original art purchased by a buyer for Warner Brothers and a New York collector of Andy Warhol originals.

POP ART

The term POP ART doesn’t seem to mean today what it did when it was first used decades ago. However, as I say on other pages, I don’t mind what term people use to categorise art: to do otherwise is where art snobbery comes in to play and this is something which is not a part of me.

Quality speaks for itself and I don’t need anyone other than my customers to tell me otherwise.
