Recharging the batteries

  • · Mood: refreshed
  • · Music: Miles Davis and others

After a period of intense work, it has been fantastic to go and “put something back in”.

So how does an artist recharge the batteries? Well, I spent the weekend with family in Inverness.

Clava Cairns is one of my favourite places on the planet and then there was flying a four meter kite with my nephew on the world-class Findhorn Bay.

So, here are some of the photo’s from my weekend. Watch this space for some artwork to follow!

Painting again

  • · Mood: fairly chilled
  • · Music: Madonna Erotica

Finally midweek last week I had to give in to the flu-ish feelings and today was my first day back in the studio.

I am working on some exciting new pieces and commissions so plenty to be getting on with.

I have been invited to take part in an exciting exhibition later in the year in Chicago and for those of you who ask, this is a perfect example to show you how my work changes direction. A piece for the exhibition and another piece took on a complete new life as I convert them from acrylic to oil paintings

I never know if it’s a good thing to show art in progress but people do seem very interested. So! Here is a painting in acrylic and then starting on it in oil. They always look worse before they look better ;-)

Gob smacked

  • · Mood: Flu - like!
  • · Music: Ade Fenton

The dreaded Lurgie has struck but I am managing in to the studio for a few hours to get some new art painted.

I really am amazed at the publicity surrounding the current exhibition at the Park Gallery.

For all of you who asked, and for those of you who couldn’t be there...here are some more shots of the evening.

Some people might think that this website is more “personal” than businesslike. Well, that’s the way I intend to stay! I hope it gives you a flavour of the evening.

Gob smacked

  • · Mood: Happy
  • · Music: Sound of Silence

Well, last night was my preview evening at the Park Gallery in Glasgow.

Leading up to these things, things are quite frantic with completing art and delivering paintings to the gallery. The nerves before the night are all to do with concerns about the only people in the room being me, the gallery owner and a bottle of Chablis!

Over 85 people turned up last night and by the end of the evening there were 9 pieces sold. Thank you to everyone who attended the event and for all your comments and encouragement. It was a wonderful night.

A special thanks to the Park Gallery management and staff for all the hard work in organising such a professional event.

With two weeks still to run, there is plenty of time for you to drop by the Park Gallery and have a look. For those of you who are further away, here are some photos of the evening.
