This small sascape painting is all about capturing those quiet moments at the shoreline and feeling the vast expanse of the sky. Being at the seaside even on a day when it’s not sunny can be a great experience.
This painting took quite some time to paint and is constructed from several layers and there are several textured areas to the canvas.
This landscape oil painting has ben slowly nurtured by me towards completion for over half a year. It has been a guilty pleasure in the studio to just add a little stroke or two each day in between working on othe paintings.
I love being in any countryside but there is something about parts of the Scottish Landscape that just feel utterly exhilarating whilst you are there. The air feels fresher, the colours seem more vivid and when I was back in the studio working on this canvas, I really could smell the heather.
I was lucky enough to be able to spend quite a lot of time in woodland areas as a child and I think that the visions of the changing light and those special atmospheres of bright natural colours and long shadows will always stay with me.
