David Bowie Art

David Bowie Fan Art

Ashes To Ashes

David Bowie died in January 2016. I was surprised at how much this affected me. I had listened to Bowie before any of my peers as I had a much older brother who was a huge Bowie fan.

There is nothing I can add to what has been said about Bowie, other than to discuss him personally.

One of the things i love about Bowie was that he had highs and lows. For me, the sign of a great artist and a great experimenter. Let’s Dance was a great album but not my personal favourite. Much preferring Heroes, Low, Station To Station and Scary Monsters.

I distinctly remember when I first saw the video for Ashes To Ashes in 1980 and Bowie had yet again, appear with something visually and musically new, striking and yet tapping into the mood of the time.

I have drawn and painted Bowie before and had been planning to draw him again for some time. When he died, this made me delay this David Bowie art as I don’t want to join the ranks of those who cash in on a celebrity death with their “tributes”.
